CPT has been shown to improve lymph oedema. Other names for CPT are Complex/Complete Decongestive PhysiotTerapy or CDP/CDT. It consist of four elements:

  • Compression (bandages or garment)
  • Manual lymph drainage (MLD)
  • Exercises
  • Skin care

Compression on its own reduces the edema, however, MLD often speeds up the process.
The treatment consists of an intensive and a maintenance phase. The maintenance phase begins when there is no further reduction in oedema. Then a compression garment is fitted.
We will work in conjunction with your medical practitioner and/or your lymphoedema consultant.
At the first session we will take a careful history. This will include measuring of the limb and photographs (just of the limbs--no face). We will then device a treatment plan, and start with a introductory treatment to see how your respond.
