Do you know if this treatment is available on NHS please.

Hi Phil,

As far as I know on-site massage is not available on the NHS. Recently studies have been conduced into the effectiveness of on-site massage within a health service, but unfortunately that has not resulted in massage offered freely within the NHS (yet?).
On-site massage is often provided through an employer. Some offer it on a regular basis, some on a special occasions, and some (most!) never. Also, I have been employed by organisations such as Surestart, where it has been available for free to the users.
Massage was available in Nottingham for people with mental health issues to help them to get well again, unfortunately this service has been cut. Also, in certain cases, Manual Lymphatic Drainage is available on the NHS. This needs a referral to your local lymphoedema service.
Low cost massage is available through the further education colleges, here in Nottingham on the Clarendon site of NCN and at Central College. Here the massage is done by trainees. Some of them are very good, and others are not so competent yet, it's pot luck.
