Weight Loss Journey

I have known Regina for a long time. We first met 14 years ago when I used to attend her baby massage classes with my daughter– since then I’ve seen her on and off with various niggles, usually a stiff neck, which she readily and skillfully dispatches!

More recently though I have embarked on a different kind of journey: back in September 14 I had weight loss surgery and knew that this would mean lots of changes in my body. Not only would I need to learn to eat in a completely different way but the resulting weight loss, although welcomed, also worried me. How would I cope with the changes in my body? What would it feel like to be a slimmer, healthier me?

Over the years I think I have been in denial about my body, ignoring my problem weight and not really facing up to potential health problems for the future. I knew I wanted to change and live happily and healthily, I wondered if Regina might be able to help. I decided to give it a try and I’ve been seeing her every 2-3 weeks since just before my surgery.

The powerful thing about having massage with Regina is that she is non-judgmental about my body. In itself this is very healing – when you have a massage your body is being treated with kindness and respect and somehow over time the massage is helping me to do the same.

Massage is helping me to become more body aware, to notice changes and be more accepting of myself. I have learned that my body does not have to be perfect, it’s quite valuable and wonderful as it is (although it’s appreciating the help that’s coming its way!)

Regina is a very positive and encouraging person. I look forward to going in to her room - there is always a lovely atmosphere and, quite often, lovely smells too! There has been a very powerful conditioned response that has developed over time too – now I only have to park my car near to Regina’s house and I start to feel relaxed!

Having regular massage has been like going on a journey for me. I never really know what will happen in each session. Regina is a very intuitive massage therapist and she responds to my needs and requests for each massage creatively. Sometimes my stiff neck will need some attention; sometimes I feel like de-stressing; sometimes I need perking up! No two massages are ever the same, but one thing is sure, and that is that I always feel better afterwards.

When you first have a massage with Regina you might wonder what on earth is going on as she uses a “no hands” technique that you may have not experienced before – trust me, go with the flow and you will feel the benefits!

I highly recommend her and as I have already said, she has been an essential member of my “support team” as I’ve embarked on my weight loss journey. She’s helping me accept myself and learn to love my body and that’s priceless.
